Design your space… dial down stress, dial up productivity
Let’s talk about your environment, the place you live, the space you work from, and how it’s either helping or hindering your success.
You might notice from this video that I’m in a different spot today. And that’s intentional.
Here’s the quick backstory: We were living in a beautiful apartment and decided it was time for a change. A house sounded ideal, more space, maybe even space for a jet ski out back. We moved.
And I hated it.
Honestly, the space didn’t make anything better. It just gave us more room to buy stuff we didn’t need. Then the issues started, a cyclone, an electrical fire (yes, the smoke alarms caught on fire... irony much?), leaking ceilings, water damage, no air conditioning for months. It became almost impossible to do my best work. I was constantly distracted, frustrated, and uninspired.
And I realised, your environment matters. Massively.
It affects your energy, your productivity, and how inspired you feel to show up each day. So today, I want to challenge you to audit your environment, both at home and at your clinic, and look at what small changes you could make that would create more focus, flow, and fulfilment.
Start With Your Clinic
Imagine walking into your clinic as if you were a brand new client.
What do they see?
Where do they park?
Is it clear where they’re supposed to go?
Is the entrance clean, calm, and welcoming?
Go beyond the obvious:
What does the space smell like?
How’s the lighting, harsh or calming?
What music is playing?
Are your chairs comfortable?
What happens at reception, is the process smooth, digital, or a bit clunky?
Look at it all through fresh eyes. Write everything down. No judgment, just awareness.
Then, Think About YOU
As the clinic owner:
Where do you work during the day?
Do you have a space that helps you focus, or are you constantly interrupted?
Is your schedule full of reactive time, or do you have protected CEO time carved out for strategy, planning, and growth?
Even 60–90 minutes of focused, strategic work each day can move the needle dramatically.
And here’s the thing… a lot of us say, “I don’t have the time.” But the truth is, we haven’t created or protected it. When I finally did, I still got everything else done, plus I started moving forward strategically.
So, here’s your challenge:
Audit your clinic. Look at the client experience. Write down what needs tweaking.
Choose one thing. Just one thing to improve, maybe the lighting, music, diffusers, or signage.
Audit your workspace. Where and how are you doing your best work?
Choose one strategic action. Create 60–90 minutes of protected CEO time and make it sacred.
You don’t need to overhaul everything overnight. Just start small, stay consistent, and you’ll be amazed how much of a difference it makes, in how you feel and how you lead.
